Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie 'Pet Sematary' located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.

Same tbh, it's been so long barely remember anything outside of first... 5-10 minutes of it. :hm

The trailer looks decent I'd say, I don't think that as a premise Pet Sematary is particularly hard to do decently... shouldn't be realistic to fuck it up but with Hollywood remakes one can never be too sure.

Quite spooky but as expected from Stephen King.

I like Jason Clarke and John Lithgow from when he played Churchill in The Crown.

It's a good trailer. Hopefully it will be a good movie.

I loved the original as a kid, so much that I even read the book. I also remember enjoying the 2nd one at that age, but I don't remember much of it...which probably means it sucks...

The book is really good. Just as good as king's other classics. But I don't remember kids in masks walking around doing the wickerman thing.

I don't remember that either, but I like it. It's creepy and different. I find films that are too faithful to the source to be just as problematic as films that stray too far from it.

I've never seen it showing on TV. Just a bunch of Halloweentown and stuff.

    Just watched it.

Very average horror film. The fact that the trailers spoil the entire film doesn’t help either. Definitely not a masterpiece.

I saw "Pet Sematary (2019)" and it was... fine?

In my youth, I read the source material and watched both of the original movies and I remember adoring them all on some levels -- even if I hear the previous cinematic adaptations haven't aged well. This remake does make some pivotal changes and some work; the ending does not. I have to warn you, I'm going to sound hostile throughout this "review", but I assure you that the film is not bad. All of its flaws and strengths alike wash away under the bridge before the movie even settles in your mind, so don't even expect to remember much about it as you leave the theater.

How does it compare to the first adaptation? I don't want to comment too much on that, as I don't remember enough about the original, but this one is definitely defanged from a violence standpoint. It still wears its R-rating proudly, but the first was a lot more visceral and even after all this years, I DO remember the razor slicing the mouth open; the eye hanging out of the socket and so on... It was gross and this seems tame in comparison. Yet to its credit, it does have a pretty unsettling atmosphere. I loved the foggy locations; the creepy kids in their creepy masks and the foreboding sounds. The 2019 film is pretty consistently creepy, although I found the ending to be so rushed, lazy and predictable that it did eventually lose points for me.

Some have complained the characters are stupid, but they're missing the point. They're clearly being compelled by a sinister force behind-the-scenes... and I'm not referring to bad writing; this is even explained within the story... Adapting King's works is tricky because he relies so much on mythology and cosmic horror, which doesn't fit snugly within a visual medium. "It (2017)" was the first I can think of to successfully play into this and "Pet Sematary"... tries... The narrative is so fast paced though that it seems like it's rushing through the story, so this information goes over audiences heads and the the creepiness is unable to evolve into outright scare.

The movie was pretty creepy, but never scary. I don't think I'm going to remember a single thing about it. The cast is good, but Jason Clarke seems bored during some of the more pivotal moments -- especially during the ending. He's a great actor, but it's almost like he was reprising his tired looking character from "Winchester". Maybe horror is not his favorite genre? Everyone else is good though and Amy Seimetz conveys fear very effectively. The creepy kid is also suitably creepy.

I'd say "Pet Sematary" is a good rental, but don't expect "it"... and just be glad it's not "Children of the Corn"...
