Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai
    Studio: CloverWorks

    Synopsis from MAL

Puberty Syndrome—a rumored, mysterious syndrome that only affects those in their puberty. For example, a bunny girl suddenly appeared in front of Sakuta Azusagawa. The bunny girl's real identity is Mai Sakurajima, a teenage celebrity who is currently an inactive high school senior. For some reason, her charming figure does not reflect in the eyes of others. In the course of revealing the mystery behind this phenomenon, Sakuta begins to explore his feelings towards Mai. Set in a city where the skies and seas shine, Sakuta unfolds the meaning behind his bizarre encounters on women with the said syndrome.

Overall I liked the first episode, I thought it was going to be dumb rom com, but it's actually on the serious side. Dunno why, but it reminds me a lot of Yahari.

Ep 2 surprised me in the later half with how touching it got.

Also this show continues to deliver on the dialogue and one liners

Finally worked up the courage to watch the first episode. I can already sense the drama in the episodes to come.

Monogatari light describes this series pretty well, far more easier to follow when it isn't dialogue 99% of the time.

Really enjoying it so far, nice to have a based mc for once.

Minus the weirdness, with more to the point clever dialogue (not to say Monogatari can't be clever, it just sure the hell isn't to the point) and less uniqueness. Also the MC is more likable.

I have to say, I've really grown attached to the characters in this series and this has likely shot itself up to my favorite watch of the season :hm

Ep 7 I felt like is setting up many arching plot points and I'm highly interested in seeing how they begin to play out.

Strikes me as Clannad meets Monogatari.

Just finished Episode 7. Glad Futaba is getting an arc, she's been low-key one of the more interesting characters.

I think Monogatari is more interesting because it throws a lot more dialogue. You have to piece together bit by bit instead of getting everything spoon-fed in the right order. You have to really pay attention to match all the visual effects to the emotions and the connotations of the words. Or the characters motivations whether they're telling the truth or lying.
The puzzles of the character's real intentions are too easy to put together in Bunny Girl. And it can be kinda predictable. Like the end of episode 6 was pretty obvious by the end of episode 4. The issues around the supernatural stuff feels more unique and complex from Monogatari.

Sakuta is a little boring too. Like people react to the kind of person based on how they should react to whoever fits his role in the story, rather than reacting to what he's actually saying. He just sort of negs girls half-jokingly. I get why Araragi is creepy or annoying to some people. But at least the other characters respond in-character to him when he's being stupid or an arsehole.
Looking at the most direct character comparisons (Tomoe-Hanegawa, Araragi-Sakuta, Tsukihi-Kaede. Most of all Meme and Rio). They're just less complicated and less outrageous.

Also, the crazy creative artwork is missing from the more naturalistic Bunny Girl anime. The editing and composition is much better than most in the last few years. But its not exactly special.

This might be my favorite anime of the season so far, and I almost didn't even watch it because it looked so fucking stupid on the surface. It really does remind me of a mix of Oregairu and Monogatari, the former of which is one of my favorite anime series ever. I think I prefer this to Monogatari, though, mainly for reasons that others have already stated in this thread.

I also really like Sakuta, maybe even more so than Hachiman and definitely more than Araragi. He is best girl.

More thoughts on this show later, but best way for me to describe it is like this:

Monogatari - Weird things explained by the supernatural
Bunnygirl - Weird things explained by science.

Also, Futaba is best girl. Again.

This show definitely isn't as stylish or visually impressive with its art, animation and direction compared to Monogatari. It's far more down to earth if anything, but given the theme of the show, it makes a lot of sense to me. Like I said in my last post, Monogatari is about weird things happening to you being explained by the supernatural, so its presentation and style would certainly appear to be larger than life. Bunny senpai is instead about weird things happening to you being explained by scientific theories and concepts, thus making the show's theme more rooted in reality. That's why its more simple and realistic presentation makes a lot of sense and it's what showcases the contrast between the two shows. Just to be clear, I don't prefer either over the other.

One thing I do appreciate more with this show compared to Mongatari is that the character interactions are much more grounded in reality as well, and the MC is someone I can appreciate more because he's witty and has a charm to him that Araragi doesn't really have to the same extent. Sakuta also really gets shit done and doesn't waste time to help others and I really like the dynamic between him and Mai much more than between Araragi and Gahara. That's something I really like much more than in Monogatari, and the fact that side characters like Futaba have more to contribute to the knowledge of what happens around them compared to the secondary characters in Monogatari. The way I see it, I think Bunny senpai has much more potential for me to like it on a personal level.
