So in a few eps I've noticed that some of the "rogue" characters (and even sasuske after the fight w/naruto) have slashes through their konoha (or other) forehead protectors...

Is this symbolic of something? it seems this happens when they turn "bad"..

Its somthing the Akatsuki do to signify that they are missing nins. Sasuke got one on his from Naruto's Rasengan as symobolism that he too was a missing nin.

It's only the members of a group called Akatsuki (these people include Itachi and Kisame) that have those slashed-headbands as of yet. The members of Akatsuki are missing-nins, people who have betrayed their villages. So, the slash through their headbands symbolizes the fact that they've betrayed their respective villages and have become missing-nins (and also symbolizes hate for their villages).

Edit: peK, Zabuza didn't have a slash through his headband though (or at least I'm pretty sure he didn't).

I'm assuming it's just a sign of disrespect and to show that they are missing nin.

I think this one is the best answer, along with MnK's. :amuse

It's just their way to show that they have left the village and gone bad.

    Recycling. :Gaipose
