A disgrace! No Slowdive thread! :mad

One of the best bands to come out of the shoegaze genre. "Visions of La" "Alison" "Blue Skied an' Clear" "When the Sun Hits" are profoundly beautiful songs that should be praised until the end of time. I find it to be one of my great musical failures that I only have their antology "Catch the Breeze", so this thread serves the purpose of you guys fixing me up with as much of their discography as possible. :amuse

Meanwhile I'll up Catch the Breeze for anyone not having heard them.

Discuss their ethereal beauty before this dies to make way for more "Any1 like teh Withe Striphes" and "What do you listen to?" threads.

If you like My Bloody Valentine, Loveless and Autumn's Gray Solace, you will love Slowdive. I'd like to grad Catch the breeze when you up it sun, I only have Souvlaki atm.

The hook in Alice is heartbreakingly beautiful

Yeah, Alice is such a wonderful song, this band just takes my breath away at the moment. They fit the Swedish winter exceedingly well.

And yeah, of course I'll forward it to moe-moe. Be sure to up "Souvlaki" for me if you can?

    sure thing sunshine <3.

And since we're all in such a Shoegazing mood; anyone needs My Bloody Valentine - Loveless? The essitinal shoegazing record. I also have an unreleased peel sessions recording for the band, plus 2 live shows.

Extremely spacey and guitar driven mixed with experimentiation, distoration and huge emphasis on guitar and bass. Vocals are usally hushed, but that's not a negative thing at all, it just adds to the experince. The name comes from the guitarists focusing on the foot pedals while playing to create the sound scapes, hence the term shoegazer.

It first started round about the mid 80s by My bloody Valentine, whose album Loveless is the essintal (and probabily the best) shoegazer record of all time.

Souvlaki Space Station and Sing are among my favorite songs by Slowdive. Brian Eno co-wrote Sing, and you can really hear his influence in that song.
