Synopsis: Yuta Hibiki can’t remember who he is, and now he’s seeing and hearing things that others don’t! A voice from an old computer tells him to remember his calling, and he sees a massive, unmoving creature in the distance. Nothing’s making sense—until the behemoth springs to life! Decided to try this one because of Trigger involvement. Characters look nice and I have seen worse CGI.
Red Shinji seems quite boring though.

I guess I'll keep watching for now.

Really boring first episode to be honest. The mech looks good when it moves.

There were some weird cuts in this episode. Maybe it was just me :hm. The dialogue felt kinda simple and boring also... Pretty much a meh first ep. Can't see myself giving this show anyone higher than like a 6 so far but we'll see.

There were a number of cuts where still zooms are used for too long past where anything is being said. I noticed it too

The pacing on this episode was snail-like but given that this isn't looking like it'll be another Darlifran, I'm giving this show the benefit of the doubt. This wasn't one of the more impressive first eps of the season tho

the dialogue felt so weirdly dull, like they were doing it on purpose or was thinking its going to be the charm of the series or something.. like they put great effort into eliminating any kind of dynamism from the story.

    -*something something*
    5 seconds pause
    -*something something in response*
    5 seconds pause
    -"eeeeh?"

Its Trigger, give it till episode 3. The main mecha looks like a bloody Ultraman tribute. :lmao

I don't think Trigger has impressed me so much that shit just gets a pass only because they're working on it, not that I'm not going to give this one a bit longer. There's some big issues popping up already in ep 1 that need to be addrerssed

And yeah there's some Ultraman creators involved in this anime's writing

Didn't say there wasn't, I've been stuck in the first 10 minutes of the episode but I try to go by the three episode rule before dropping a show. And usually I have faith in Trigger to pull things through; Ninja Slayer, Space Patrol Luluco, TTGL, KLK, Kiznaiver, etc...

TTGL isn't Trigger, but yeah their better shows do tend to have a sort of warm up period to them.

Like 90% of the current staff in Trigger is the from when Gainax made TTGL.

It's still a different studio :maybe

Also I'm not the biggest TTGL fan. I was pretty ready to drop it, but it did improve after Kamina died.

It might be a different studio but only in name. Trigger is made up of the majority of the writers, production staff, animators, directors, key frame artists, etc...that made up most of Gainax's best works. And anyways I'm not a huge TTGL fan either but its still a good 'modern' classic.

The first ep felt paced like a low-key introspective 90's anime like Lain or one of the more quieter moments in Eva - you even had the MC waking up, and the first thing he saw was an unfamiliar ceiling. But yeah, instead of shots of telephone wires and the sounds of cicadas chirping creating the atmosphere, you had the stuffy/awkward conversations of the main two set to the backdrop of a dormant kaiju only the MC could see. I didn't mind it, but it stood out pretty distinctly.

I liked that the monster and Gridman moved like they had some immense weight to them.

Liked this episode a little better. There weren't as many weird cuts but the dialogue was still meh but better than last week. The whole "Do what you can do" bs is getting annoying.. I liked the memory shit though. Still not getting my hopes up, but as long as I don't regret watching this in it's entirety, it'll be a win. Op actually got me kinda hype

the characters in this act like nothing is really happening. Like it's normal for a Kaijuu to be destroying the city and for their friend to become an Ultraman super hero.

No one but the main cast remembers the kaiju attacks.
And after its defeated, life goes on as if nothing happened
However, if you get killed by the kaiju
You are retroactively killed years ago and wiped from everyone's memories

    That is pretty fucked up

Collateral bystanders have it rough in this universe

Funny to see the teacher made it, and that he apologized for bumping into the MC infront of Lil Miss Grudge

“Make her ass big and her thighs thicc.”

Like most Trigger shows, I like the designs. But my line of sight has not been adequately drawn to either the ass or thighs of the two leading ladies so far. They should probably have made them bigger and thiccer.

To me it looks like they only showed off black haired girl's thiccness in that one promotional poster and the character sheet. In the actual first episode she didn't look thicc at all and I didn't notice her legs or thighs once. Incredible it led to tons of fanart saying otherwise.

Like you said the animators should have followed her character sheet more faithfully in the actual episode. Cause her legs look basic during the ep :lmao
