In my recent trip to Canada I noticed a certain coffee shop on every block and I even witnessed two of these coffee shops right across the street from one another, it was rediculous. You know this global coffee empire as Starbucks. Many of you wonder "Why is Starbucks bad they're just a coffee shop" Wrong! The things they do to get their coffee is catostrophic. Starbucks exploits underpaid, third-world workers who use a clear-cutting (cutting down trees in a forest to plant crops on, once the crops are finished they move on to another part of the forest) style for agriculture. This is a very serious and detrimental way of growing crops. Starbucks has opened stores all around the globe and has been cheating its workers out of hours and benefits for years. However Starbucks does sell coffee beans that you can purchase obtained in a fair trade manner but the coffee they make is still from free trade beans. Recently Starbucks was acccused of using the money from the Tsunami Relief Fund to boost their own sales. Think about this next time you get your next cappuchino.
