How do you feel the characters match up against each other in terms of swordplay?
Add more characters should you wish, I'm interested to see this :oh

I'll start with 5 of my favourites:

    1. Gintoki
    2. Katsura
    3. Hijikata
    4. Sougo
    5. Yagyuu Kyuubi

Now in terms of swordplay, I'd put them in this order:

    1. Yagyuu
Lots of hype. Could see her beating Gin-san 1-1.

    2/3. Gintoki/Katsura.
Katsura was mentioned to be strong by Gintoki. Gintoki is just :gar

    4. Sougo
Supposedly the strongest swordsman in Shinsengumi. Seeing him lose to Hijitaka in a flashback makes me question this though.

    5. Hijitaka
Seeing him beat by Gintoki broke my heart. He falls to the bottom of the ladder :(

Nah, Hijikata-kuun is very strong- did you watch the fight he had at the end of the Mitsuba arc? I guess Gin-san is just that much stronger, beating the Vice-commander like that :nod

You know who I think Gin-san would have a really hard time fighting with and coming with the upper hand? Takasugi.

As for Sougo getting beaten in that flashback (are you referring to the one in the Mitsuba arc?) he was emotionally drain that time, and was not thinking straight. Have you seen the Itou arc yet?

    My ranking would be:

    1. Gin-san
    2. Sougo
    3. Kyuubei
    4. Hijikata
    5. Itou

The ones we haven't seen fighting, and judging by what Gin-san and Katsura have said,

    1. Takasugi
    2. Katsura
    3. Sakamoto

  3. Austeria

This is rather hard since we haven't seen everyone truly bloodlusted. For now I'll go with something along the lines of:

    1) Gintoki (main character advantage?)
2/3) Takasugi (main antagonist, so according to shonen formula he's the strongest)
2/3) Katsura (Gintoki seems to have faith in his abilities)
    4) Sougo (strongest in Shinsengumi)
    5) Hijikata (I'd think of him as more or less the same level as Sougo)
    6) Banzai (I would've ranked him higher if he weren't an antagonist; in Gintama bad guys tend to lose to shonen hero determination)
    7) Kyube
    8) The rest (too lazy)

We haven't seen Sakamoto fight with a sword, so I left him out of the list.

What about the leader of the Yagyu clan? I'm referring to the old dude, he should be stronger than Kyuubei right?
