Because all the true Chargers fan aren't fans anymore because of Spanos moving the team. The Rams and Raiders had been in LA in the 80s and 90s, the Chargers hadn't been there since the early 60s.

Gronk on this play still cracks me up :bookerskully

Good time to hang it up imo. It looked apparent for quite a while now that the injuries caught up with him .

He set the standard for current TEs.

The fact he made 1st team all pro in 2017 is a fucking joke. He has 4 good seasons in 9 total years and only one of those is "elite"([2011] 90/1300/17). Also 2011 is the only year he started all 16 games in his career, talk about a glass cannon.

Gronk was overrated for playing on the Pats and being an off the field character that the NFL could cash in on because he was white. If he was black they would've said he partied too much or he was uncoachable.

He was a dominate force . "A freak" . But Travis Kelce and Zach Ertz are for sure gonna surpass him statistically at the end of their career as will some others.

Like what benchmark did he set really?

Probably not. Before Gronk TEs were either 3rd down 10 yard guys to move the chains or pure pass blockers, Gronk set the standard for TEs to be used deep down the field, as well as being versatile enough to pass block and on very few occasions play safety. Witten and Ertz are always open but that's their niche, neither of them of have the speed that Gronk did in his prime (Kittle and Kelce might though). Tony Gonzalez and maybe Kellen Winslow are two that can hold a torch to him. Gronk required defenses to change their entire playbook.

Get out of here with that nonsense, Kellen Winslow Sr. Reinvented the position. In the damn 80s he had three seasons of 82 or more recptions. Then you look at Gates and Gonzalez numbers, they were true 1st and 2nd options on their teams.

Gronk is easily in the conversation for most overrated player of all time.

who was the first option besides Gronk in NE post 2011

I legit think he has more TDs and yards than any receiver in that span on that team...

Does the childish deflection means you can't answer the question or....
He also was smacked between the best coach ever and the best QB ever. I ask you what makes him first ballot and you give me an award given to you by the press because they like you or you did a couple highlights or whatever other bias they might have at the time.

At least give me some MVPs or OPYs that he won since that's more statistically based...

Why are some players judged with different criteria than others..some players needed a whole laundry list of accolades but not this poster boy..Gronk was an impactful player but not a first ballot in my opinion.

Seeing how he effectively didn't play 2013, 2016, and 2018 you would have to call it receiver by committee, which anyone who has taken a peek at his stats would agree.

Which is hilarious because he only deserves it twice. 2017 he was voted on reputation, 2015 was one of the most inefficient seasons in NFL history(120targets 72receptions with an abysmal 60% catch rate).

Delanie Walker should've been given the nod in 2015, and Kelce should've in 2017.
