So the next Batman is "the Dark Knight", and they're going with "The Man of Steel"? Was that a combined decision or are they just totally ripping them off? :p

I just want to see a proper bats/supes movie before I die. But here's hoping the next Superman movie fixes all the flaws of Superman Returns.

superman II the richard donner cut (recently released on dvd and bluiray) is one damn good superman movie. its way better than the regular siuperman ii that re did lots of stuff since they went with a different director and threw a lot of richard donners stuff.

Lois Lane being married and having a son whose father is really Superman left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Well since theyre both from DC, I don believe its a rip off but more like a similirarity on purpose...
Man of Steel, sounds sooo cool though.
I thought Superman 2 against Zod was GREAT!!!, old school still wonderful, I still have a tape from the 80's that I stilll watch...

Eeek. What a gamble, wasn't Superman Returns quite a flop?

Superman just doesn't grab the world as he used to, we don't care much for the "Hero who represents what America thinks of themselves", whilst we all like "Batman who's what the world really thinks of America".

lol lets not start a uk vs usa war in here. personally i think the usa is better.especially our prices for goods. they are way more expensive in uk and canada.plus we have more freedom.

lol Yeah, I like America's goods more too! Your stuff costs half as much as ours does, meaning we can import loads and America loses out :p

Anyway, this wasn't a UK vs US war, I'm neither that petty, nor at all patriotic. But its actually largely a fact that in many other countries, Superman isn't liked as much because he's too "American". In the Patriotic, red_White_and_blue style of patriotism, whereas Batman is much darker and is jokingly referred to as "What we really think of America", nothing big or offensive, and that's what I was referring to. For example, the success of Spiderman and Batman in the UK and Europe in comparisons to Superman's success was much larger than in the US.

I wasn't giving an opinion or anything, just making a liable observation :p

So no need to defend your country, as nice as it was to see. But more freedom? Sorry, but at least in the UK, laws are much less strict that in the US, Police let lots of things go when you talk to them, rather than rigid sticking-to-the-rules, and we get to drink Alcohol from the age of 3 :p And more violence is shown on TV, etc. etc. :amuse

Anyway, like you said, not a UK vs US war at all, its not like you threw petrol on the flames or anything... :wink

I wasn born in America, and I don live in America but I do bow down to those guys... they know how to build up their image...
Like when superman fixed the position of the American flag on the moon, and when spiderman came to save the day and evryone was clapping, when they showed that huge american flag on the background... great stuff :cry

Well I read an interview on Superherohype in which they said that now that Superman was introduced with returns he wanted to make the next one more action based. He mentioned wanting a villain to go toe-to-toe with superman in a fight and most likely it would not be Zod.
I don't know about you but it almost sounds to good to be true.

They sort of sidestepped the patriot side of it in the last outing. The problem was that the film was just dull. It's part of a growing trend to show the man/woman behind the hero, but sort of forgetting that you shouldn't lose the balance completely. If it was a giant success this sequel would probably continue on with Ratner's inevitable vision of having Superman not actually do anything beyond normal life at all, and have him go around buying groceries and randomly wandering off for years so he can keep getting on the wrong side of Louis.

They shouldn't have changed the storyline, but overall the new Superman movie was a good one. Can't wait for a sequel, and I hope they get the same people to reprise their roles.

By the way, an off topic question: What anime is your sig from?

Superman Returns is ok since they showed stuff that normally doesn't happen to Superman. If they're gonna come up with another Superman movie, they have to come up with a more kick-ass plot.

A movie based on superman fighting doomsday dieing and then coming back to life would be a great movie.
