When doctors strike, less people die....

Take care of yourself before a doctor has to, that is the best medicine.

I was about to say that too, but then I remembered the complete incompetence of my local hospital (seriously, when my sister fainted for a half hour, it took the ambulance 30 minutes to find the local high school)

BTW, is it true that if you don't have a credit card, the ambulance can not pick you up ? (the "can [nothing] not" is on purpose) Some legends I was told about the USA's health system.

    I wouldn't know, I live in Finland (yes, I Europe isn't much better <.<)

Anyway, the 50% less death was probably just because of there being no high risk operations going on anyway.

But still, doctors are way hyped really, most of the times they don't ahve a clue what's up with you, unless it's cancer:oh

    wait...what?

Seriously though, I still rely mostly on TCM(traditional Chinese Medicine) as, for the most part, physicians aren't looking purely at my wallet when I go in with a problem.....

So Finland is not so cool for health ? France too, but it's still more reinsuring than the system they have in the USA...

I'm very skeptic regarding this one. I'm from France, so I know about striking. Doctors never really strike; they just claim they are on strike but they still do their work to save lives. Hospitals still function very well during strikes. So this doesn't make much sense...

What kind of persons are found in hospital? People with a terrible health. Is it any wonder that any small error would lead to their death? It is likely that many of them would have died anyway!
And obviously, most of them and lots, lots of others would have died if they didn't go to the hospital at all.

Anyway, I can only agree with your conclusion:

Well, they use natural herbs and such, but they aren't exactly well-supported by science.
And they don't always work too. I should know, grandma makes them all the time. :(

Anyways. The article was written with personal interests in mind. Obviously taking care of yourself is paramount. But, this is the best time to be alive (in any Western nation) in terms of longevity and medical care. There's always room for improvements and advancements, but it's astounding what people can survive now that would have been certain death 100 years ago. (The date is just a stab in the dark for dramatic purposes.) Well, not even just live through, but parts people keep, reattach, etc.

That said, incompetence is rife everywhere in the world. So is self-interest.

Belated, but yeah. She didn't realise he was a serial killer until he was prosecuted. Then looking back she often recalls how a lot of his warnings about her health could be taken as threats... :S She stopped seeing him after he told her she would die if she kept drinking milk.

You have to go to doctors for anything that is very serious to your health, and sometimes patients die.

Ugh. What I hate the most is biased people writing up bullshit to fool others. I HATE THAT.
