Yeah, well the pre-season has started so this thread seems appropriate. Well, some info on today's games:

UTA def. IND 97-84: 24 pts Deron Williams, 22 pts Al Harrington
WAS def. CLE 93-89: 15 pts Antonio Daniels, 14 pts Anderson Varejao

    Other games still in progress:
DET lead MEM 78-77, 8:39 left in 4th. 14 pts Flip Murray, 13 pts Hakim Warrick
ORL lead SAS 84-83, 3:27 left in 4th. 19 pts Travis Diener, 14 pts Manu Ginobili

Ok, here's the opening discussion thing. What's the status of Amare?

I think he's not ready to go 100%. I expect lower averages of around 20 points and 8.5 rebounds or something, and he'll step up in the playoffs.

I don't know about Amare. But for the Suns' sake, I hope he's ready to anchor the middle.

I personally hope Diaw continues producing amazing numbers (he's on my fantasy team).

I read an article on Yahoo sports where Amare said that he was 100% ready to go and healed up. The other question is, do you think hes going to have that great of an effect? I mean the suns got pretty far without him last year and if they try to fold him back into the game plan I think it might slow down the speed there known for.

BTW I like your avatar Sharingan eye. Im a sonics fan.

Yea I read that article too. How about we rate each team while we count down to the season?

    Atlanta Hawks

Basically, they added Shelden Williams (Yet another frikkin forward), lost Al Harrington and added Speedy.

Speedy won't be in an Atlanta jersey until later on in the season due to injury. I highly doubt they'd make the playoffs as all the other underdog teams have improved quite a lot compared to Atlanta.

You'll have to look out for Marvin Williams. He's going to start in Al Harrington's place, and Shelden Williams will fill in some of his minutes and possibly start (Pachulia can do rot in hell)

I'm also hyped for the Season to start.

The 2 team's I'm rooting for are Houston and Chicago, these 2 teams should make it very far with their current roster.

As for Amare coming back, the Pheonix Suns will definatly have some kinda new gameplan, but I agree that Amare won't be the same as 04-05 Season. But he will definatly step up Playoffs time.

The only thing Amare does is dunk on 5 at once. His shooting is subpar, and his defense ain't that great, meaning his shot blocking, and steals.

He literally gets like 5 dunks a game.

Remember what happened to Chris Webber after his knee surgery? That's what I expect will happen to Amare. He relies on his knees a lot, because his game relies on power, and he doesn't have the capacity to become a jumpshooter like C-Webb, because he can't shoot.

Hey Jamie. I don't know if you remember but I went as FabulaNovaCrystallis on SF. Sonics play Portland today, should win it. Gelabale looks to be a fairly good player.

Sonics lost, but Ray Allen had a good game, 16 pts in 24 min. So, I'm thinking Houston to make the Finals, provided Yao, T-Mac and Bonzi stay healthy.

Hope he just doesn't get injured. He seems to be injury prone and has been most his career.

Yeah, the Lakers should win 50, as long as Kobe isn't hampered by the knee surgery, and Odom has a good season. They have great depth.

50? Hmm, possibly. I personally say anywhere between 43 and 48 if I had to pick a gap in which they would finish.

I predict 48-34, though they could win up to 52, I think.

Damn, that's a shame, guy had so much potential. Lakers are shaping up well, beat PHX today. Odom had 19, Bynum 16 and 9. Toronto 6-0 so far in the preseason, they could make the play-offs at this rate.

Pre-season means nothing really. The Raiders in the NFL went 5-0 in pre-season and they're like 1-6 so far in the regular season. :p

It shows that they have a lot of young talent, and potential. That's about it I think.

But seeing the Raptors back in the playoffs would be nice.
