    The Legend of Zelda WiiU

    Still in conceptual development phase
Development Mission: "Rethink the conventions of Zelda"
Probably some kind of multiplayer, co-op
    Probably Open-world, less linear

I doubt that same concept video they have shown since the WiiU's launch will be the final product. (Remember the Gamecube Zelda teaser) Also HD Wind Waker is cool but still just an HD remake.

I like how the graphical update made Wind Waker visuals worse, nice going dropping the cel shading, Nintendo. The only reason why people said the original game's graphics were timeless and why they would still look good to this day.

Bullshit aside, the talks about dropping the linearity of the franchise in the new game has my interest. Especially after Skyward Sword, really.

So by the sounds of it, it seems that they might go for a more open world Zelda where dungeons become more of a thing you can do at your leisure. Meanwhile, you can explore the world, craft new items etc. Sounds like a pretty good idea.

    Pretty good idea?

That sounds like a fucking fantastic idea. Sanbox/open world Zelda? Sign me the fuck in.

I just hope they're just overhyping themselves on this.

According to Aonuma it seems like the new Zelda title on the Wii U will shift away from the traditional Zelda titles. Possibly looking into co-op main storyline gameplay? And it seems like it will be more sandbox instead of linear plot progression. Being able to choose which dungeons to play instead of following a pre-determined path sounds interesting.

I wonder where they'll take this.

I guess I'm alone on this, but, I enjoy the linear path of the Zelda games.

Partly because the 'sandbox' style games I'm used to have so much wasted space, but, mostly because I'm old and stuck in my ways.

I'll def give it a shot though

I don't really mind it either, except in Skyward Sword which was incredibly forced down your throat.

The comments, at least mine, stem less of any true hate of its linearity and more of my personal excitement of the possibilities that a open world Zelda might provide.

Yeah, I felt like Skyward Sword treated us like we didn't know what we were doing the entire time we played it - with Navi yelling in your ear every couple minutes, telling you exactly where to go and waht to do.

I feel like an open world Zelda has potential to be awesome, though, I just hope the entire world actually has a reason to exist other than just filling space.

The new Zelda Wii U game being open world and non-linear is an awesome idea. However this concept has been attempted at in Ocarina of Time to a degree, but I'm sure this will be expanded on in the new installment.

I'm not sure about Wind Waker HD. I already have the GameCube version, so I don't know if repaying for the same game with just HD graphics added in is enough to make me buy.

If Nintendo had played it smart and included a trophy/achievement system for the Wii U, then I would probably have purchased this without hesitation. But just mere HD is not enough to make me rebuy a game that I already own.

If they release a HD port of Super Smash Bros. Melee with online multiplayer, then I'll buy that in a heartbeat.

I hope that there's a truly massive world to explore. While I'm not expecting something on the scale of Skyrim it would be a real delight to see a Zelda game that massive.

I know they probably won't, but I'd love it if they made:
    More convenient warps.
    More convenient wind mechanics.
A way to increase your boat speed.
    Make it more difficult.
Less reliance on X marks the spot (aka, dumbed down exploration)
... for this WW HD. Come to think of it, fewer superfluous islands would be nice, too. >_>
I also know that at least half of these are absurd wishful thinking on my part, but even one of them would improve my enjoyment of WW dramatically.

Game looks gorgeous, and more visually captivating than the original WW.

I'd like lots of bustling towns as well as large dungeons and a large over world.
    And gimme more Zoras :datass
