Dear friends. I don't know how else to ask for help in this matter other than to beg for it bluntly. :laugh

I am on a quest to make the most comprehensive, most amazing love mix of all time.

This requires some help, as I obviously don't have the most comprehensive music collection of all time. This is where I need all of your help.

The difficult part is that I want to actually physically make the mix, so this requires more than suggestion. I need you to suggest and then pimp the song(s).

    Here's how this will work-

Read the thread before pimping or suggesting to avoid redundancies

    Suggest a song/songs and post it/them here.

Pimp the song/songs to my PM.

After a week or so of letting the project run (however long it takes), I will compile the mix and repimp the entire mix to everyone who contributed.

Be creative and intelligent in your decisions. Anything from Marvin Gaye to Elvis Presley to the Broken Social Scene to whatever. This has got to be the most endearing, romantic, love driven mix the world has ever seen. So much so that when one listens to the mix, one actually falls in love with anyone or anything within a 25 foot radius. I think you can see the repercussions of something so potently swooning. THINK OF THE POWER! :hearts :hearts :hearts

Thanks in advance for all your help. I expect to have my mind and heart blown with some of the songs that surface from the minds and libraries of NF's best (you know who you are). :amuse

    Example-

    Josh Rouse-Comeback (light therapy)-

This song is begging for love redemption at its finest. The mixture of old Beatles melodies and good ol' fashioned R&B makes even the hardest heart melt.

ps. I KNOW this is cheesy. Thats the damn point. ;)

(i feel i can post this here since the only way to get the album is pay 40 dollars)

Maybe it's just my warped sense of a love song but I think this is a beautiful song aside from the R2D2 sounds and it's the first song where Pere Ubu got their 80's Talking Heads happy sound.

It was "our song" in a former relationship of mine but maybe that relationship was just built on R2D2 sounds.

It is probably my favorite love song of all time

There's something about using a touch a profanity to express your love. It just warms your heart. Plus, how can you not fall in love just listening to Goapele?

Very well, I only have one I can think of right now but it's short, simple, sweet and melts the heart of everyone who's ever listened to it:

    Old 97's - Question

I'd love to upload it for you, but I can't find the record and haven't seen it for some time. Fuck it, I might just buy it later. I suggest that everyone who can take one HELLUVA sweet song to download it, though.

AMAZING suggestions guys. I am always impressed by how much knowledge the Music forum members hold.

Great thanks to moe, Olaf, and Nega for suggesting and pimping their suggestions. Be sure to do both so I can create and resend this mix! Thanks!

Don't get your panties in a bunch.. Or whatever those darn kids are saying these days. It was comin. Added a few more songs though.. like

    Goapele - You feat. Dwele
    Sade - The Sweetest Gift
    Sade - Flow
    Cee-Lo - Let's Stay Together
Common - Come Close To Me (does anyone remember the video to this? Common is in front of this woman's house and reciting the lyrics to the song to her. And he's got these pictures that go with the lyrics that he shows her as the song goes on. The last picture is a ring and he asks her to marry him. When then find out she's deaf when she starts doing sign language saying yes. Aw man, that was a sweet video. Y'know this had to be on here.)
    Hanne Hukkelburg- Searching
Lauryn Hill - Nothing Even Matters feat. D'Angelo
    Niyorah - Sandy Weekend
The Roots - You Got Me feat. Erykah Badu & Eve

I didn't know what you got already, so I uploaded all five I could think of + find, even the ones I was reasonably sure you had.

    Anyway:

"Question" by Old 97's; The story of a proposal. A textbook example of short, simple and sweet. A single acoustic guitar and voice. Two verses, two choruses, all love.

"Postcards From Italy" by Beirut; Don't let the voice fool you, this one is sung by a nineteen-year old. The lyrics should give it away, they're brimming with boyish bravado and pathos and cockyness. "I would love to see that day, when she marries me outside by the willow trees. That day is mine."

"Smile To The World" by Magnet; like practically all of Magnet's lovesongs, this one sounds like a last-ditch attempt to prevent a girl from commiting suicide. It is one his only ones with an optimistic conclusion, though: "Smile to the world, though it never seems to smile back". (It might not sound too catchy up until the halfway mark, but it gets pretty intense)

"I Saw Her At The Anti-War Demonstration" by Jens Lekman; Jens reminisces of himself at 16 falling in love with someone elses girlfriend at a peace rally. Lekmanesque humor and slyness abound, all with a just as Lekmanesque heart of gold in the background.

"Be Still My Heart" by The Postal Service; I was 90% sure you already have this, but that's simply not a chance worth taking. The feeling of realising you have a chance with someone you'd written off as unattainable is an oft sung about feeling, but "Be Still My Heart" is the definite song on it, period.

All tracks are catchy as can be, of course, as I kinda got the feeling you had a RL use for this collection too. Good luck with that :amuse
