FEMA's 2018 "response and recovery" budget was $221M, the "disaster relief fund" was $7.3B.

So while $9.8M is incredibly poor optics it doesn't look like it is shifting a huge amount of money.

This was legitimately a plot point in House of Cards in Season 3. Except without the agenda of victimising foreign people.

According to Alex Jones and other conspiracy theorists, FEMA was going to help cancel the 2008 us presidential election.

Trump: oh, a hurricane that could potentially kill hundreds of my own people is coming? I don't care, I need to prioritize making sure illegals don't cross the border.

Are these things generally iron-clad? Would it be effectively impossible to access these funds, even under the most extreme circumstances?

    Deaths caused by illegals: 63,000.

Death toll of Hurricane Sandy: 147.

    Simple maths.

Our budget shouldn't be wasted on protecting foreigners.

That's not preventable, if a hurricane is going to destroy real estate and infrastructure that's going to happen regardless what of we spend on FEMA.

FEMA only helps out with evacuations and supplies food and water to the victims.

you can spend more for reforestation in Africa. which will reduce the frequency an intensity of strm

or you can build more responsible. not in water catchmen area which functioned to adsorb waater and deliver it to aquier.

I was going to ask that ... I mean, Japan has built fail-safe buildings against Earthquakes.

Is there some engineering work that can be done about Hurricanes ?

when Hurricane and typhoons come, River cant flow to the sea cost the wind push the water upwards, we got floods.
that is the most dangerous/destroying things.

Building codes usually already conform extreme weather. so it is rare to see high rise building got destroyed by +200mph wind, (the code also said if there are recorded high wind, the designer should use that record high). but smaller houses didnt usually designed to stand that or it would be very expensive. so Govt should have control which area is safe. and give permit to area that is safe for building.
i.e. coastal that is prone to storm should be allowed to be build small houses.

I get that you have an agenda to see through, hell or highwater, but I'm curious why you would half ass your propaganda like this. Did you like the aesthetics of a cumulative tally juxtaposed with 1 specific disaster or are you banking on people not catching on to how laughable it is?

Ask him to bring up the list of crimes and deaths caused by natural-born citizens, particularly those involving fire-arms.

Why would I do that? It has no bearing on what he said. There are numerous things mind numblingly stupid about his post, a non-sequitur like that would only give it false credence.

True. It doesn't deserve to be dignified with a response.

It's most likely satire, but I've long resigned myself to the fact that there's enough people living in the world today that otherwise improbable probabilities are fulfilled by any number of people ranging from a handful to the thousands. :apathy

I read a "news" article yesterday that wrote that "scientists" said you can't shout down a hurricane. Well I don't know about you but I think it's every good honest red-blooded American's right to go stand on the beach and shout into the wind and I'm not about to let any uppity LIEbrials tell me I can't.

    Who's with me?

Well, if true, this isn't much of a story.

What would the "appropriation limitations" be though ?
