    IMF forecast of U.S. growth:

    2018 2.9%
    2019 2.5%
    2020 1.8%
    2021 1.7%
    2022 1.5%
    2023 1.4%

They explained that they think the current burst is a temporary boost from the tax cuts, but that it will moderate once the economy settles into the new normal.

It's like how if you shove a cart very hard it will accelerate quickly at first, but once you let go it will gradually decelerate unless there is something aboard to give it more power.

The U.S.-Mexico border is 1954 miles (3145 km), so he's got 0.7% of the Wall done. Bravo.

The Great Wall is not a single wall either. So maybe we will have the Trumvian wall, the Bidenite Wall and the Whinfresite Wall.

My go-to presidential troll is to say that probably Lincoln was the least-popular president, since he pissed off half the country so much they literally started a civil war.

it's good for those who voted for him.

If he manages keeps his promises, improves the economy and doesn't make stupid moves that end in a war somewhere I think it is possible that he will get reelected

I'm no coal miner, but i can see how removing black lung coverage on healthcare or removing prevention methods for polluting fresh water will negatively impact them, even if those miners who voted for him think it is.

I can't wait for him to finish. There's no way Mexicans will be able to get around a border wall. Except with a ladder, I guess. But if they get up there there's now way they'll get down. Maybe a rope.

Real GDP is just production adjusted for inflation, it's far from a measure of whether or not sound economic policy is being conducted. Trump has been engaging in actively damaging economic policies, particularly with regards to trade. A good number on a surface level is a combination of an already recovering economy and the tax cuts. Trump's an idiot, so he and his supporters think that these numbers in the short-term are indicative of some brilliant move, but it's only going to make things worse in the long-term. Economics is about far more than how the current day looks. As an aside, the stock market doesn't mean anything, either.

He has chosen to actively invest in industries with comparative disadvantage, which means the country is paying higher opportunity costs. He has chosen to antagonize trading partners, lowering dynamic gains from trade, which is by definition a long-term economic benefit. He has engaged in protectionist policies, which hurts consumers and the economy as a whole, under the false pretext of "fixing" the trade balance. The trade deficit isn't inherently an issue anyway and also related to the US dollar being a reserve currency. He has decided to place greater importance on patents, encouraging rent-seeking. He's fucking up education and healthcare, something that is crucial for future economic success, because people don't contribute a whole lot when they're stupid or dead.

If what you promise to do is fucking stupid, doing it isn't a positive thing. Americans should be glad that the wall is essentially impossible, otherwise that kept promise would ruin the country.

Some of his attack strategies appear to be working. Republican voters and independents overwhelmingly disapprove of how the Kavanaugh hearings are handled. He is also back out around the country again, dominating headlines with antics and attacks at other people.

I think most of us know that a lot of this is nonsense. The public seems to be falling for it though.

Oh the wall won't actually effectively stop immigration anyway. Nearly all illegal immigrants come over legally on temporary work visas. Then outstay their legally offered welcome. You don't need ICE running camps or harassing immigrants as much as a competent bureaucracy.

They also tend to avoid deportation by not committing felonies, and taking cash-in-hand jobs that pay well below the tax bracket.
