Where was the Uchiha clan during the kyuubi incident? Fugaku and his wife (forgot her name) were out of the village on a mission as per Itachi's statement but where was the rest of the clan and why didn't they participate in the kyuubi incident?

Was it stated somewhere, if so a scan would be appropriated.

I believe Danzo had them stay inside the village officially to protect civilians but unofficially to abuse their absence in the fight as a means to paint the Uchiha as unreliable and probably behind the attack.

They were all there in the village. Kishi just didn't feel like drawing them.

All we know from the manga is that Fugaku and Mikoto were out of town/house/clan compound/?

The Itachi Shinden: Daylight novel goes in more detail stating that Military Police Force were ordered to stay put and strengthen the village's defenses (Fugaku wanted to put down the Kyuubi by trying to control it with his Sharingan).

Something similar happened in the anime fillers where iirc Danzo convinced Hiruzen to order them to help evacuate the civilians instead of fending off the Kyuubi.

In that case, what caused the village leadership to suspect the Uchiha were behind summoning the Kyuubi? Did they suspect the Uchiha of running a false flag operation?

Either way, it seems rather odd Konoha leadership would intentionally bench the people known for having the ability to genjutsu bijuus... that's pretty egregious even for Danzo's schemes.

It would seem that the entire Uchiha massacre was not a tale of impossible decisions or sociopolitical issues beyond reconciliation... just literally poor leadership from Hiruzen.

They suspected the Uchiha because they have ocular powers which can control the tailed beasts.

And because their homes weren't destroyed by the Kyuubi? Or was that a filler/fanfic?

I'm pretty sure there are a bunch of inconsistencies between the manga, the novels and the anime too.

    :oldshrug

That much is clear. Hiruzen was basically playing second fiddle to Danzo and his other two councilors the whole time.
