Who else thinks Vagabond would have been the greatest Manga ever written if it ended on Volume 27?
Dunno about that even though I thought that arc was excellent, Kojiro was introduced so I was expecting that final confrontation, plus I liked Musashi's progression after the Yoshioka.
Yeah, everyone was just expecting the final fight between Musashi and Kojiro after that Arc, so ending it there would have left salty responses from readers. It still would have been better than the Farming Arc we got.
I've heard Takehiko Inoue is starting another manga. He hasn't even finished REAL, let alone Vagabond
Though I've also heard that he considers Vagabond ''''''''''finished'''''''''' because he drew Musashi as an old man sitting in a cave for an exhibition event a few years ago
And no because Musashi develops really well after the Yoshioka showdown. I especially loved his duel with Ittousai
I miss Inoue
I remember seeing this rumor pop up a few days ago. Someone used this image to spread it:
However, this was just an illustration for a basketball magazine Inoue did months ago.
Yo people, so what's the news on this? Caught up now, any chances this series will ever be finished? Real is still on-going too?
It's objectively still the greatest manga ever written.
No news for years T_T
Considering that it was supposed to be entering its final arc , I think Inoue is simply not in a hurry to finish it.
Plus he gets a lot of work outside of manga, for exhibits and whatnot.
Vagabond will continue one day. I hope.
I only read the original novel. I wonder if the manga is faithful.
I think so, haven't read the novel (just a summary), but it does seem like it follows the part about Musashi being in love with Otsu.
Which is leagues away from the real Musashi who would absolutely isolate himself from women.
Is there an English translation?
Anyway, it was a pretty good manga, although sometimes the back and forth regarding Musashi's own feelings/understanding of his goal was a bit...tiresome.
I'd really really like to see him meeting his rival already.
I have no idea. I read it in French. But there probably is
It's not. Kojiro is a nice deaf dude in it.
I've read Musashi. It's different, but overall follows similar story beats. Some differences are Kojiro being a normal asshole and there being less action overall (for instance the spear monk stuff gets taken care of completely differently).
It's been several years though so I can't properly go into detail. Vagabond is probably more enjoyable, but it was a solid read and it's a massively famous book.
