Okay, VLC is really pissing me off. I can't gat the video to play at a normal size. It always shows up as widescreen and streches across my entire screen. The only way to get it to look normal is to play it fullscreen, which I do not want to do.

Can someone tell me how to fix this crap?

    Unacceptable answers are

    a. Maximize it
    b. Use a different media player

Note: This happens with EVERY video of ANY filetype.

This is what it looks like

Thanks for your input, but you didn't help me in the slightest bit. Some suggestions to fix the problem would be nice...considering that's what I made this thread for.

blehehe .... sarcastic tit typical scouse

fine I'll see what I can pull out of the bag i have a spare 20 mins anyway

Ok first things first (whish didnt help me but your never know)

Try reseting the preferences in the preferences dialog and restart VLC. This can bugger up VCL into pain in the arse not starting mode. In which case you need to deleate the config file

None of this helped. None of the video settings or aspect ratio crap will help either.
