cant say i do anything to feel better mood wise during those times but i do try to past them over in the least self-destructive way i can think of; which is outwardly expressing whatever im feeling inside in the hopes of living those moments out instead of drinking myself in to oblivion. every now and then, when going through a particularly rough period, i try to remind myself how transient the state that im in is. no drink, no weed and no other means of running away from it all though. praise the most mighty!

i just go with the flow. i dont try to force myself to do something i feel i 'need' to do out of normalcy or anything, unless it's like something i straight up have to do like go to class to turn something in or to an appointment.

sleep in, listen to music maybe. thats pretty much it. try to stay hydrated.

with regards to social media: i uninstalled instagram a few months ago and i think it's helped a lot with not feeling as insecure or left out or whatever. no one really uses facebook that often besides the regular people complaining about work or what not (which i dont envy at all lol). theres no real insecurity on there for me. it's the same with snapchat, i dont really follow that many people and what they do post about i never find myself envying or anything.
with instagram though you can just get lost for hours on the explore page and seeing a bunch of things that may or may not affect you, and everything is explicitly filtered and designed to look super fancy. plus i noticed a lot of people started using instagram stories and what not so i enjoy the privacy of snapchat now.
originally i uninstalled instagram because of school and because i felt i lost a lot of time just scrolling. it used to be my favorite social media app.
i also uninstalled twitter for that same reason, though twitter is a cesspool. no pretty pictures of people hanging out to make you jealous there lol.

but even if you uninstall social media for reasons unrelated to insecurity or self esteem or what not, i think that your mental health still benefits. because we really do waste a shit ton of time on that. plus it's bad for our attention. ive been trying to limit facebook now too but it's a bit harder to let go of since i try to keep in touch with some people through that.

When I'm feeling emotionally out of control, I take a step back and try to rationalize my feelings.

Reading encouraging messages also helps but nothing comes close to me listening to my own internal voice of reason. I have a very weird internal structure that is very reliant in the 'power of the mind' theory.

There are also people who are able to calm me down on the spot. I only have to see their faces and the world becomes right again. Still the self-reasoning is needed but it's done in a more mercurial way.

This is it for me. Someone who can understand me without being condescending or just listening and doing their best works wonders for me. That being said I can trust people easily and they can give me advice but I always find ways to talk against it which can be frustrating to others. Someone who either gives me no option to speak against them or just lets me go and gives me a hug is really all I need.

Venting isn't healthy for me by itself, but someone to guide me is good for me. As well as hugs. I like those.

I also tend to want to eat a shit ton of junk food and just comfort food. Thankfully I'm poor and can't afford it.

I've never even heard of a mental health day before now. As for those feelings described in the original post, i don't really have those anymore, not since i accepted life the way it is.

It's really just a sick day, people say they need a mental health day to alleviate a little bit of stress

If I happen to be home I find solace in listening to music and spending time with my pets. Otherwise, I go to work like normal. The people at my morning job at least cheer me up. At my second job, I have too much time to think :/
