Did anyone ever question why a guy who lives in the DESERT is wearing a full body black costume? He must be sweating profusley in that thing, How is he even alive how has he not died of heat stroke by now, he must have Horrible BO all the time, Not to mention what the heck is with the cat ears or whatever is he an open furry too? and Why does he have that strange make up on his face it makes him look creepy and wierd what is going through his mind when he puts it on his face? No wonder Kankuro never found a wife like oh my god he is such a creeper have you seen how he looks in Boruto hes always like looking over the corner or peeking out from gaaras shoulder like wtf! :rotfl:rotfl

Black clothes are helpful on the desert. They make you more comfortable. And make up/ears are part of his design, like Kiba's make up.

Large clothing that covers the body helps for air circulation underneath and blocks sun, not black though. It's cool because Kankuro is rarely roughing it out in the sands, he has an office job.

Black clothing is known to be the most ideal attire for desert hiking because the thick fabric keeps the heat from transmitting to the skin...

Kankuro is a walking shout-out to traditional Japanese Kabuki and Bunraku stage plays. It mostly comes from Bunraku, which are puppet shows where everyone except the main puppeteer wore all-black robes and face-concealing hoods to mark them as invisible to the audience (and even the main puppeteer wore all-black to blend in with his assistants and not take too much attention away from his puppets). Kankuro is a puppeteer and explicitly refers to his Jutsu as if he were putting on a performance with his puppets (Chiyo and Sasori do this too, BTW). Taking the Bunraku reference even further, Chiyo's Ten Puppets of Chikamatsu is a shout-out to Chikamatsu Monzaemon, who was IRL a famous Bunraku playwright and puppeteer who wrote and performed over 100 plays, and in Naruto is credited with being the original inventor of puppetry as a form of shinobi combat.

The face paint comes from Kabuki, where actors typically wore face paint to make their characters stand out and appear larger than life. Which paradoxically means that Kankuro dresses to blend in and stand out at the same time. The paradox does happen to fit his character, though. During everyday life he wants to be an invisible supporter behind Gaara, and hence wears clothing befitting a Kabuki or Bunraku stage hand. But in battle he occasionally uses himself as an actor in his own performances (his battle in the Chunin Exam Preliminaries is an example of this) and in the event this occurs he has to appear just as flashy as his puppets. But even more than that, the face paint is a statement that Kankuro is more than just a stage hand and has a will of his own. Unlike Sasori, whose obsession with puppets turned himself into a puppet in both body and mind, Kankuro wants to serve Gaara from the shadows without losing his own sense of personal identity. The face paint helps him do this.

Come on, people. We all know that Kishimoto cares way more about symbolism than he does practicality. :doge
