There are movies being released that I'll definitely check out ("Venom", "Aquaman"), but there are only a few I'm really eager to see. For me-

    1) Bad Times at the El Royale- I'm a sucker for 'various characters find themselves trapped in an isolate location' scenario, but this looks like it has some great characters and an interesting storyline...Or at the absolute least, a great cast. DO NOT SPOIL THIS IF YOU ALREADY KNOW, but I'm predicting Chris Hemsworth is going to die early.

    2) Halloween- Everything the cast and crew have said to promote this movie has gotten me excited...I would love to see a great Halloween movie again. The reviews have been positive, albeit more along the lines of 'it's good' instead of great.

    3) Suspiria: I love the original Dario Argento cult-classic and was actually against this until the trailers were released. I suspect it will either be great or at least an interesting failure. It could either be "The Shining" or "The Cure for Wellness", but it looks like an ambitious project.

    4) Overlord: How can I not love the idea of a military-themed horror flick? Especially ones that involve Nazi's dealing with the Occult? So far, the RT score is very positive, so I'm pumped.

This isn't to say I'm not looking forward to "Creed II", but these are the ones that I'm counting the days for. What about you guys? What 2018 movies are you really anticipating?

Bumblebee, Green Book, First Man, Widows, The Mule, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse are at the top of my head.

"Bumblebee" just isn't doing it for me. The one trailer almost seems to be edited to resemble a parody of "The Shape of Water", the 2nd one looks aight. I just feel like I've been burned too much by the franchise.

The first "Fantastic Beasts" did little for me, so I'm indifferent to the new one.

...Still probably will see both though...

Just because of that scene of Charlie and Bumblebee underwater? That's a bit reaching. :p From the 1st trailer I was hooked and the 2nd one fleshed out more the world and what kind of stakes there are. I would have to look up info again but I am almost sure that they are rebooting things and doing the Transformers right starting from Bumblebee.

I enjoyed the first Fantastic Beasts, but given the novelty that is Bumblebee I wouldn't be surprised to enjoy more that one.

The entire trailer is built around pseudo-romantic interactions between them.

Nope, Bumblebee is just shy and scared but nothing in the way he nor she interacts with each other carries any kind of romantic vibe. He's at best her Stitch.

Yeah not sure where MH is getting that from...seems like a typical interspecies relationship to me.

Did he have romantic feelings for Shia as well?

    ...Maybe?

Didn't Bumblebee start playing that "I'm so excited" song under the prospect of going with Shia to college? The rest of the song has lyrics that include "I want you". ;33

Fingers crossed for netflix's apostle too. Coming out in just a few weeks. That and suspira are the only promising horror movies I know of still in the chamber.

Halloween should be up my alley, but I don't like the jamie lee curtis angle. I never really saw halloween like aliens, where curtis is some ripley character. Love curtis, but I would have been more interested in the movie minus laurie strode coming back as this linda hamilton looking badass.

The only reason Laurie became as important as she was is because she's played by Jamie Lee Curtis.

But to be fair, "Halloween 2" did make the character Michael's sister, so it would be strange if she did not become an icon.

She's also like..the first "final girl" right? That's a big deal.

    Not really...

Even though "Halloween" helped shape all of those cliches, it wasn't the first of its kind. "Black Christmas" and "Psycho" had 'final girls' too. But she was the most inspirational one, so it's not untrue either.

Depends. We can technically call Sally Hardesty (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) a final girl, can't we? And if we're pushing it a bit, Jess Bradford (Black Christmas)? Or am I completely off here?

Not sure about Jess since her fate is open for interpretation and Lila from Psycho definitely met an unfortunate end.

Sally from Chainsaw Massacre is probably the first but the Laurie from Halloween is what the trope has been modeled ever since.

You're right that Jess's fate is in question in "Black Christmas", but why wouldn't Lila count? She survived "Psycho" and even though, yes..."Psycho II" did happen...By those standards, Laurie Strode isn't a final girl either, considering the franchise has killed her off twice so far (she's dead in "Halloween 4", then came "Halloween: Resurrection").

As far as stuff I know I'm going to be able to see this year mainly Ralph Breaks The Internet, Into The Spider-Verse and the new Mamoru Hosoda film Mirai. There's also the new Oh Sung-yoon film The Underdog but I have a feeling I won't get to see it until next year.

Triple Threat! Unless the director, editor and action choreographer are completely retarded and/or blind, I just can't see this turn out as something less than a complete and utter masterpiece. If it comes. Feels like I've been waiting for this for years already. This just can't be released fast enough.
