It would probably fit into my top 15 favorite Shonen manga
I see you're a masochistic School Rumble fan like me...
It's below the following for me
It just doesn't hype or grab me like it used to plus I disagree with some of the directions Hori has been going.
Top five. Naruto and Dragon Ball have too much of an impact on me for me to put MHA above them, and One Piece, though I don't feel the same attachment towards, is objectively better than any of them in my opinion. But MHA is still Top 5, and my second favorite ongoing manga.
Top 10 I guess, I can't recall the shonens I've read Should come close to FMA / Magi / Shaman King.
Yu Yu Hakusho
Full Metal Alchemist
JoJo's Bizzare Adventure
Hunter x Hunter
Part 1 Naruto
I have enjoyed more than MHA.
However thats not to say MHA is bad. I think it is a little overhyped because its the new thing in town. However its a great series. Not ground breaking though. However a series doesn't have to be ground breaking to be good.
Probably right after Hikaru no Go.
TOP 10 I would say.
One piece > HunterXHunter > Bleach > Naruto > My hero academia
I would say top 10 for sure, bu I doubt I have read as many shonens as most people here (probably not much more than 10 ).
Thank You! I don't understand why noob readers in this generation can't understand this.
Top 10-20. It hasn't reached the "peak" point for me to rank it directly within Top 5, it would be a huge disservice to series like FMA, Part 1 Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, JoJo, Death Note and One Piece. I would even rank some sports shounen like Hajime no Ippo, Eyeshield 21, Ace of Diamond and maybe even Haikyuu above it as well. Promised Neverland ranks about the same as well (and if it delivers on finale it may surpass MHA too). There is also Blue Exorcist & Magi that I feel very underrated.
That doesn't mean it's a bad or average series though. It's fun & consistent, very popcorny, doesn't make me feel dumb or think my time went to waste etc. But it hasn't got the "ooomph" for a shonen, partly due to Horikoshi playing safe with his characters.
Really haven't read much or seen much, but it's really up there, top three for sure. The more of this I watch the more the flaws in even early Naruto become apparent. I think the thing that kind of annoys me is people basically treating Deku's opinion like that of a god. So many characters bring up what he would do and it kind of feels disingenuous and it was one of the things I disliked about early Naruto, though there it seemed worst (Naruto and his "way of the ninja BS").
Well, Deku is intelligent and actually has presented as a leader to his peers in past situations, so this isn't that surprising or annoying to me.
Overall this isthe first extensively tournament focused story that I've found interesting due to the quality of the various characters. That and the Mangaka's artistic style keeps me coming back (even though I really want to see more serious hero/villain battles in the mix).
It feels like they’re going for a very extended origin story. It feels like rivalries are already surfacing.
People read this story for Bakugou, Deku or all might. All the other characters are niche or fanservice products for horny otaku. Preferring Bakugou is the only way to enjoying this manga, because he always wins and gets his way. Deku is there to grow from him. Ochako and Tsuyu are the love interests, Todo........is a jobber that no one really is interested in without his dad.
Just when I thought this dude couldn't get any dumber
he fucking goes Plus Ultra
Linky! What happened man you still butthurt?
Idk. Not top 10. Not 15.
BNHA characters are cool but almost all of them aren't really interesting. Sometimes I skips weeks of reading it. I only read the Chisaki arc weekly because of cute little Eri
MHA ranks low in my all time top ten. But it's one of the few newer manga that I have read so for my top ten newer manga it's probably ranked a 2.
*cough* Muscular *cough* All for One *cough*
1) Naruto Part 1
2) One Piece
3) Full Metal Alchemist
4) Boku no Hero Academia
Muscular isn't what I consider a top grade villain--he's one of those 'stepping stone' bad guys and a secondary character at best. I'm talking about major villains like Shigiraki (in the future) and yes, All For One. There is more to their underlying motivations that the common cackling master villain with not a thought in his head beyond Ruling the World.
I actually quite like Shigaraki, but I fail to see much depth in his mentor mentivation
I find Shiggy's immaturity rather annoying, but like Deku he is slowly learning and growing. He's been on the back burner for a while now, but it looks like the plot involving LoV is ramping up and I expect to see more regarding his connections with his mentor AFO.
I couldn't decide which one to use.
This, but replace Naruto with Hunter x Hunter
