what happened to naruto's catch phrase 'believe it!' ? he's not saying
it anymore, i kinda miss it :(

he needs to say SOMETHING as an english alternative to 'dattebayo'.
if not, it's like taking part of his character away..

did they remove it because of all the dub bashers?

and dattebayo is better because it's in a different language?

japanese people should also be annoyed with 'dattebayo' as we are with
'believe it.' naruto is supposed to sound annoying

plus, naruto says dattebayo FAR more than naruto says believe it,
so we have it good. but now i think they removed it..

He said it a couple of episodes ago =D

Maybe the hate mail the dub-bashers sent them had an effect:(

I don't find it annoying, just too repetitive. And that's when it gets annoying.

I don't really find it annoying.Naruto is one of the character's with special speech.Meaning they add a word every time to there sentence's.Yeah, maybe because all of the basher's they took it off.But I watched an episode and he said 'believe it!' only one time.

I don't miss it, and thank God he doesn't say it anymore. I think I'd rather have Dattebayo instead, even IF he says it a MILLION times in one episode. Believe It is gone...BELIEVE IT!

    believe it = fail.

and there tends to be groups of episodes where he doesn't say believe it/dattebayo. I don't know why, that's just how it is.

No, it's because dattebayo has no meaning, believe it is very disturbing.
I am VERY glad that they removed it.

so you'd rather have him saying dattebayo in the ENGLISH dub?
most people would just think he's talking gibberish..

at least believe it means something. like dattebayo does to the japanese,
even if it's not exactly a direct translation, but it's basically the same thing
(dattebayo's a really hard word to translate)

I do watch the Jap version as well, but 'dattebayo' isn't that annoying to listen to. Jap voices sound more hysterical than American voices.

that's probably because 'dattebayo' doesn't stand out that much since it's
in japanese. japanese people probably think it's annoying..although not
that much since they don't have to deal with dubs most of the time

Um, yes, he is. That's the point.

No, it doesn't mean anything. Kishimoto made it up so it wouldn't mean anything. It's in his interview.

no, the word actually exists, kishimoto didnt just make it up..
what he said in the interview was that he didn't know what it would translate to

another rough translation of dattebayo would be 'don't ya know?'

dattebayo's not really a word, more like an accent. and it doesnt really have a specific meaning, but it implies something like 'believe it'

and yea, it's something that makes naruto unique, just like 'believe it' should
make naruto unique in the dub. and taking that away would just take away his
    'uniqueness'

"Dattebayo" is just a sentence additive. It doesn't have any actual meaning, and only serves to enhance (probably not the best word to use but I can't think of anything else) Naruto's individuality.

But yeah, "Dattebayo" is used much more often and is much more annoying than "Believe it".

Believe It is not a "uniqueness" as one poster stated, it's just there to annoy dubbers

I'm starting to miss it; that and "Rise." Granted, not everyone liked them. I enjoyed it to a certain extent and the dub feels a different to me now that Naruto doesn't say it that much. I mean, at least drop it either in the next episode preview or once or twice during an episode, but far apart.

"Believe it got on everyone's nerves."- Rikki-Lee

    Opinion; purely opinion.

If you really think Believe it was only added in to annoy dub watchers, you're a complete idiot. They did it to try to imitate Japanese Naruto's Dattebayo.

The thing most people don't understand for some reason is that Japanese-speakers are going to notice Naruto's Dattebayo the same way that English-speakers notice Believe it. The only reason English-speakers don't notice Dattebayo is because it's in Japanese.

Saying you hate Believe it and like Dattebayo is basically being hypocritical. They're the same thing: Annoying little phrases that Naruto adds to his sentences occasionally (or frequently in the Japanese version).

Although I haven't seen the latest dub episodes (my dance class is when they air, I have no say...) I think they removed 'Believe it' simiply because they couldn't stuff it into Naruto's lines.

Unless they did a bunch of editing to cut out the extra mouth flaps that 'Believe it' could easiy fit into, personally I think that would be a waste to time.

I hardly ever notice the Jap Naruto say 'Dattebayo' or ''tebayo' at the end of his sentences.

I can only make out Sakura's 'Shannaro' >.> but I guess because it isn't placed into the subtitles we don't notice it...

    Why did I quote you?

They say it's always good to have a reference to refer to, and so I did.
