Continuing to steal this thread idea from the DB section.

Basically who beat the crap out of him and/or injured him physically the most?

Also... what was his most psychological defeat? Haven't seen this brought up before.

It's a hard tie between Kuma and Mihawk as both left injuries that carried over to other arcs.

See I would've said that too but then I remember how he went to fight Arlong and his scars got opened up and he started bleeding like crazy. That was a pretty intense injury.

    Kuma.

    Then Mihawk.

Zoro has a Shichibukai syndrome because of these two, he needs to beat at least one Shichibukai to get over it.

Kuma thing was psychological due to taking the pain and the fatigue only but not the actual damage.

His ass-whooping at the hands of Enel is sorely under-the-radar here, tbh.

I'm pretty sure it's the last time a 100% healthy Zoro has actually lost a legitimate fight in this series, and boy did the outclassing show itself apparent, even if it was determined by Enel's Logia-class DF for the most part.

    Enel flat out embarrassed him.

Kuma probably did more overall damage though.

    Kuma > Mr.1 > Mihawk > Enel > The rest.

Kuma : He carried his pain + luffy's pain.

Mr :1 He sliced him so many time ...

Mihawk : He should be dead.

    Enel : Enel huts a lot ...

Psychologically its easily Kuina, he still can't get over the fact that she's dead and he has a losing record to her. He also gets fucked up whenever he sees Tashigi.

Physically I'd Kuma>Mihawk>Mr.1. Enel just embarrassed his ass.

Zoro vs. Mihawk was a physical and psychological beatdown.

Zoro couldn’t even comprehend that Mihawk was that far ahead of him with a small dagger. The final slash he takes was pretty brutal.

Kuma doesn't count here, the most significant damage inflicted on Zoro in this fight came about after a deal they both made

so this easily goes to Mihawk, Zoro got schooled pretty bad in that fight

gave him a reality check :smoke

Mihawk by far, what he did to him was just brutal.

Zoro before his battle against Mihawk was well known and feared all throughout East Blue, he developed a great deal of pride in himself as a swordsman of renown for he was the best swordsman in the weakest ocean.

Him meeting Mihawk so early was devastating in that at this point Zoro not just wanted to achieve his status as the Worlds Strongest for his promise to Kuina, but now as well to help Luffy. As Luffy stated if Zoro couldnt achive this much he would be in a dillema.

His meeting with Mihawk and what Mihawk said and did to him must have been soul crushing. First in realizing that not only was his fame and power absolutely useless, but the fact that the disparity was something that cant be overcome with the way he has been going this entire time .

What Mihawk said to him captures it all.
Mihawk: Listen to the little frog from his well. You must learn the world is larger than you think.

Zoro had a narrow minded vision of how to achive his dream and he had no idea of what the real world is like, thats why his loss against Mihawk with Luffy as witness spured him to make his oath.

Mihawk: My name is Dracule Mihawk!! It is too soon for you to die. Know yourself. Mihawk: Know the world!! BECOME STRONG, RORONOA!!!

The injury he gave Zoro in that fight are also permanent, no one else gave Zoro permanent injuries except Mihawk, made worst by the fact that Zoro aggravated his injury while fighting in Arlong Park.

And now after the time skip we see that Zoro lost his eye while training with him. Mihawk is a brutal man indeed.

I dont know if I wanna consider mihawk vs Zoro as "beating". That was plain murder

If we are using that logic.. then shouldn't Aokiji be the one that gave Luffy his worst beating too during water 7 ? Or Kizaru during MF or pacifista and sentamru ... Same goes for Enel. He murder Zoro along with everyone else..

    I'll give it to Daz..

Biggest physical defeat: Kuma. Zoro was completely destroyed, I don't think he's ever been so bloodied up before.

Biggest psychological defeat: Mihawk. Zoro thought he was a pretty big fish, however he had too much difficulty comprehending the power difference between him and Mihawk; his initial thoughts were way off. He hasn't been as cocky since.

Zoro knew it was far but he never knew it was THAT far.

But he still held to his honor in his defeat so much it really impressed Mihawk.
