Why Devil Fruit Users Sink

~Avant~

Eveningstar
If Devil Fruits are thought of as more like Seeds, and have some form of sentience to them, even just as instincts, then perhaps the reason why their users sink after being just halfway dipped into water, is because they sense the water and wish to sink to the bottom of the seafloor so that they can actually plant themselves and sprout.

This could explain the wild islands and weather patterns throughout the world. They’re Devil Fruits that managed to embed themselves into the seafloor, without their hosts bodies getting in the way. To prevent them from infecting the entire world, Poseidon was used to create the calm belts and Uranus was used to raise the Red line, to act as a prison for the Devil Fruits. While Pluton was used to destroy the original Devil Fruit tree.

The reason the Four blues exist is in case that the Devil Fruit infestation ever did spread beyond the Grand Line and New World, it could be more easily contained. What’s at Raftel is probably the mechanism that can undo the Red Line and Calm Belts, recreating the All Blue, but in order to do it safely the Devil Fruits have to be destroyed first. Something that can only happen at a specific time where the Devil Fruits are potentially vulnerable.

However it could also mean the undoing of the islands on the Grand Line and bring death to the people living there. Hence why Roger struggled with taking action.

I've never even considered the question, just took it as part of the lore but your take is interesting none the less

So how would explain the seastone and it's effects?

Sea stone is like the planets antibodies, made to fight off the Devil Fruit infection. Collected from the Four Blues. It also explains why the water flows upwards at Reverse Mountain, its the planet trying to fight off the infection.

I don't see how this would make Roger laugh, but it's an interesting theory

I have always wanted to know why DF users can't swim.

I know writing purpose it's suppose to serves as a hinderance and a weakness. However, wanted to know the purpose.
