    It's "decades" away, but still, 1080p is now technically obsolete. Probably was before this (and I don't care if it was you videophiles) but now it's really obsolete.

    No its not. Standard def wasnt obsolete until the 00's and hi-def was created in 1969. Your logic fails.

    128 megabits per second. 18 megabytes per second. An entire dual-layer DVD in 8 minutes.

    Seems a bit overkill.

    Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but seeing as we'll have all kinds of advancements in DVD technology before it comes out I'm sure we'll probably have discs (or whatever medium is prominent) that hold 100's of Gigabytes or terabytes by then. Still, it all seems crazy, seeing as a decent 320 GB hard-drive is still about $100+
