...What the new Metallica album will be like. I'm sorry I didn't put this in the metal thread, but I just want Tallica fans opinions on this. And I don't want any "Megadeth pwnzorz Metallishit!" because St. Anger was purely an experimental album, which I will say was bad...VERY bad...but anyways, I've heard of their new song/2nd new song, I thought the first one was good, but the 2nd...not so well. But who knows? Metallica might just release an album like Black or maybe even ...And Justice For All, but then again, it could be made into another Load/Reload album. I'd just like to know your personal opinions on this because they're still recording/changing songs, their album is coming out around...summer of '07, if I'm not mistaken.

St. Anger sucked. This one better have guitar solos. That's all I have to say.

...It was stated that there WAS going to be guitar solos. I was pissed off that Bob Rock and Lars Ulrich brainwashed Kirk for St. Anger.

People don't seem to realize this, although I liked The Black Album from 1991.

I don't know Metallica that good (I know songs that most ppl know: Unforgiven 1 &2, Battery and few other) and I didn't listen to any whole album of metalica.

But I have to confess that this song St. Anger, I really liked it, even though it didn't sound as good as older metallica I knew.

So... I hope that this new album will be better than St. Anger
@neji kun: where did you found those new songs? I would gladly give them a spin If I knew where to find them, and I even don't know their titles

That guy was awesome...Anesthesia (Pulling teeth) to this day still amazes me, and I'm a GUITARIST! Just goes to show you that there can be no replacement for such a person like Cliff.

What's so amazing about being amazed by a bassist whilst being a guitarist?

Remember how Metallica found him? He was still playing in Trauma, and they thought that was a GUITAR solo, but was actually Cliff's Rickenbacker (I think he had it back in Trauma) with a guitar amp. He's a very influential musician and a bassist to all bassist metalheads and maybe even some guitarists, but hey, it's just an opinion. But whenever I hear some of the songs he co-wrote/wrote he just makes me wanna play a bass, especially that Aria Pro II because it looks SO sweet.

    no, what he means is:

why should it be amazing that someone is amazed by anothers persons musical prowess on a certain instrument if its not an instrument they play? I dont play sax, but i love John Zorn and think he is amazing; but i owuldnt say its especially amazing because i dont play the sax

Well, honestly I think that maybe musicians or people who play at least one instrument can listen to some other person who doesn't play the same instrument but he wows the person. They just find it really cool to see people that can perform so awesome. Of course it depends on what the person likes in some instances. Take me for example. I like thrash metal, and play guitar. But the most aspiring musician to me is a bassist (Cliff). It just gives me that feeling like he's a very dignified player and really into what he does best.

    metallica isn't metalcore.
    fuck.

also, i don't see what the big deal is with Anesthesia is. I mean, it's neat, but it's really not all that hard to play. There's waaay tougher and sweeter stuff you can play on bass.

the deal about is the actual song structure was very rare to see in the world of metal at the time of its release. Anesthesia is structered alot better than most of Kill 'Em All all round and he bought in alot of classical influences. On top of that, most metal bassists back then were playing the simple "follow the guitar" game, Burton was sorta the first to break that mould. Other than that, Anesthesia sounds great full stop and is an awesome warm-up tune XD
