Probably Zabuza, but Gai is going to givr him major problems. Even an out of shape Kakashi blocked Zabuza's shuriken in the mist, so I wouldn't be surprised if Gai replicated or even usurped that feat. If they engage in CQC, Zabuza could end up with a few broken bones,or even worse. The assassin is fairly versatile, though--he has the hax of the mist, couple thiswith Zabuza's ninjutsu options and he should seal the deal.

Zabuza demonstrated greator strength and similar speed in taijutsu to Kakashi, so even that would be a tight match.

Add in that Zabuza can effectively turn the field pitch white and fight perfectly fine still, and its a certainty.

    Zabuza 9/10 (60-70% arduity)

With the hidden mist and water clones for feints, Zabuza should win more times then not.

Guy wins. The moment Zabuza inches his blade to cut Guy, Guy will react, then instantly leaf hurricane Zabuza to death. Don't underestimate one of THE MASTERS

Zabuza wins without too many problems, his Taijutsu skills combined to Kirigakure no Jutsu and great versatility give him the upper hand.
Gai's strengh was only equal to Kakashi's because of gates, no more no less.

    really
you honestly say that gai only equals kakashi cause of gates
they were rivals because kakashi was better as a kid but as adults kakashi isn't doing 500 laps around konoha on his hands he barley held his own against obito in box world
and how can you say anything about zabuzas taijutsu when it is proven that gai is unbeaten when it comes to hand to hand

By using water clones and hidden mist techniques. Unlike Zabuza Obito wasn't actually trying to be stealthy about his next attacks so of course Gai would be able to block.

Their true strengh was extremely close as per Databook statement.
Gai's Taijutsu and speed are massively overrated for the sole reason it has impressive look no more no less.

Zabuza should win this. Both are skilled in CQC, although Zabuza should have the advantage considering he won against Kakashi in their first fight, Kakashi being more or less equal with Guy.

Gai would need to access the 6th Gate to have a good chance at defeating Zabuza, but that's restricted here.

Kakashi, who is much more strategic and adept at feints, was out-feinted by Zabuza's Water Clones and trapped in the Water Prison. Same thing likely happens to Gai - and as shown against Kisame, Gai cannot escape without his Gates.

I'm wrong with saying he fended of against obito because that would mean obtio got in some good punches as well but if that happened then gai would've lost so that means gai fought without obito touching him at all okay gai is unmatched at taijutsu so zabuzas only chance is long range attacks but gai can easily close that gap
so spitting fire and stabbing with your lightning hand isn't entertaining gai has shown that even in base he is stronger than even high level shinobi smashing boulders 3 times his size with his bare hands and punching grown men through walls he may not win to tanks like jugo and kakazu in his base but he damn sure aint losing to the guy who just barley beat kakashi the first time around

in what way if you look at them in each level gai out preforms kakashi in every way they may be close in speed but gai is slightly faster his endurance, strength and hand to hand are obviously higher the only thing gai is beat in is ninjutsu and genjutsu

Guy wins, full knowledge and only 20 meters, he's on him like white on rice from jump and beats Zabuza to death.

Hidden Mist isn't happening, he's not separating from Guy nor is he outperforming his dual soshuga with that telephone pole. He's probably disarmed within the first couple exchanges no different than how Guy handled Kisame, and Lee for that matter (both disarmed him in their introduction exchanges while unarmed).

Zabuza may have been weaker than Part 1 Kakashi but he was a legit threat because of how he was able to almomst outsmart him multiple times....Love Gai but the dude couldn't even recognize the only sharkman in the entire world after meeting him several times....he won't be that hard for Zabuza to trick.

No no you are right. I definitely remember Gai block g attacks from Obito but as I said Obito wasn't really trying too hard what he is gonna do. Zabuza is much sneakier so he could pull off a win against Base Gai.

He wasn't trying? Obito's whole fighting style revolves around sneak tactics.

Yeah exactly and against Gai Obito just went straight at him. That was my point. My sentence was incomplete. I tried to say "Obito wasn't trying too hard to hide what he is gonna do".

    Gai.

His fist attacking speed is lightning tier, and his predicting capability is second only to Itachi's. He predicted Obito's blindside attack with 0 difficulty and proceeded to parry him in equal terms.

To say Zabuza who lost to Part 1 and Pt.2 Kakashi, is beating him is a sign of being misinformed about this series.

Hidden mist is troublesome, but only if Zabuza can get it off. Gai is a good deal faster than him, and is quite literally the greatest taijutsu specialist ever. I'm leaning towards Gai because of the speed advantage.

Who has base Gai blitzed to suggest he can stop Zabuza from putting up the mist from 20 meters away?

Gai has sharp senses and can still see a few metres in front of him inside of Hidden Mist. He’s also better at taijutsu than Zabuza and at CQC in general - he might actually be able to disarm the Mist-Nin.

However, Zabuza still has Suiton Bunshin and Suiryudan to create diversions and block his LOS. If straight up close combat doesn’t work, I see Zabuza blasting Gai into the air with a suiton and chopping him in two.

    Zabuza, high diff.

when he jumped in rock lee v gara(best fight in all of naruto) at least 50m in his base and he stopped sand coffin one handed with ease
so blitz disarm with shoshuga and dynamic entry to the face gai low diff
